Dan Rather Reports, "Battle Plan"
A look back at four years of reporting on the armed forces to see how our troops are being deployed as diplomats as much as war fighters. Much of the change to the military culture has taken place without debate. But that is starting to change as the war in Afghanistan becomes less and less popular. With deficit concerns sweeping Washington, many are now looking to cut a military budget that once seemed untouchable, but has grown staggeringly over the last decade. The hour includes a provocative interview with retired army colonel Douglas Macgregor, who has become a leading critic of current military policy and argues that the approach the U.S. takes on defense is long overdue for a radical re-think.
