The Reconfigurable House is an environment constructed from thousands of low tech components that can be "rewired" dynamically by visitors. The project is a critique of ubiquitous computing "smart homes", which are based on the idea that technology should be invisible to prevent DIY. Here it is the inhabitants who decide how their house should respond to them.

Built with 1000s of hacked toys and gadgets, controlled by Arduino and Processing, and configured by members of the public.

The Reconfigurable House team consists of:
Usman Haque (UK), Ai Hasegawa (JP), Barbara Jasinowicz (PL), Gabor Papp (HU), Bengt Sjolen (SE), Adam Somlai-Fischer (HU), Tamas Szakal (HU). The house builds on work by the reorient.hu team
