West Australian public services are under enormous pressure with inadequate staffing levels, very high workloads and wages that are not competitive with the private sector.

Attraction & retention of quality staff is at crisis point with important services facing huge shortfalls in staffing. Child Protection for example, has a queue of 1800 children and families waiting for services.

Community Corrections Officers (responsible for Parole and Probation amongst other things) report that there are 1600 offenders on in the community for whom they cannot maintain proper supervision.
