inspiration, for me, comes from surrounding myself with other creative folks. When I was taking a class, just being in a studio with other people would provide a well of new ideas.

This is by far my favorite camera work. As always, a pleasure to watch you throw.

Many thanks for this video; it was for me like a gift of "Saint Nicolas"! Very interesting, with the mirror to try to understand the succesful set of gestures to obtain a so beautiful lovely shape! I particularly like the forming of its shoulder! (son épaule =for fém. and masc. in French ! ! !)

Hi Simon, Good to have you back on the wheel. That jar is beautiful. I noticed color veriations in your clay, it that a mix of different clays?
I think it's great that you have the music in you. What is your favorite music to listen to when your throwing?

I just read earlier this week about the "Plum Blossom" vase or "Meiping" which is made to resemble human characteristics, especially a small mouth, a short, narrow neck, a plump bosom, and a concave belly, according to Britannica. I would definitely call THAT a feminine form! Welcome back to the wheel, Simon!! Thought I was going to have to call out the hounds!

Hi simon...good to see you on the wheel again. I also cant wait to get a tool kit (its on my christmas list) . I have learned so much from watching you on youtube. Actually i am making some nice large pots like the one you just made and ive only been throwing for three months. I think i have a natural knack for it and i just love it. Many thanks for helping me find my artistic release.

A question. When is a pot a "him", a "her" or an "it"? As a horticulturist, I find myself referring to plants in this way, and some just seem to be masculine, or feminine, or neuter.
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hi ..well some shapes are more masculine , some more feminine....i sometimes think of the old potter when he & his wife went to bed at the end of the day he saw her body while she was undressing , & guess what he got inspired! & we have the classical vase shape to prove it, simply man taking his inspiration from his surroundings ! he beheld beauty so he copied it into his clay. Food for thought & discussion 'how we get inspired '.mmmmmh SL
