Here's a short film (not made by me), which supposedly tells what is is the briefcase Vincent and Jules try to recover.

It definitely works on 2 levels. You could say it's simple a bunch of gold bars, or that it's some deeper meaning behind the suitcase. I think it's more about what the suitcase represents - it could be something in there to help Marcellus get clean, or, if you want, on a more spirutal level his soul back. Also intresting to note how Vincent and Jules kinda represents each belief when it comes to the whole miracle thing.

mygod youre all idiots.tarantinos films are film references to B movies/tv shows hed seen when he was younger.Toolbox murders to Deliverance their in each scene.the briefcase scene is from Kiss me Deadly.

It's not that hard to figure out. Whatever was in the briefcase was supposed to help Marcellus clean his gangster income, he most likely did this by investing in gold ingots, thus, explaining the orange-yellowish glow. Plus, if it was Marcellus' soul in the briefcase, than why did Vincent completely reject Jule's divine intervention theory? I mean, after laying his own two eyes a a HUMAN SOUL, you'd think he'd be more willing to accept that a divine being could have somehow saved them.

Ok there is only one explanation for the band-aid on the back of Marsellus Wallace's neck, it's explained on the special features dvd. Simply Ving Rhames who played Marsellus had a scar on the back of his neck, Quinton thought that it would distract viewers from the actual scene.........What is in the briefcase was left to the viewers imagination, Quinton was going to put diamonds in the case but thought it was too obvious. No props can compare with imagination.
