While living in Tenerife, I was lucky enough to get invited to hike up Mount Teide, the world's 3rd tallest volcano, with some locals. Here is a video in the style of a documentary about the experience. Each stop along the way is shown in Google Earth's 3D rendering of the island

  • Nice video, but 3rd tallest volcano in the world? No way. There's at least 10 in S. America over 6,000 metres. Either the guides were having you on, or that's the Blarney Stone talking.

  • @NickOLarse999 Type "Teide" into Wikipedia. It's the third largest volcano in the world from the base.

  • yeah it is the 3rd tallest volcano measured from its base on the ocean floor...

  • Thats a great video my friend.I live here for 10 years now.I have been to the cable car station a couple of times but I have never been on top.

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse I'm not American. Dont know why you thought I am. And why are you prejudiced against americans anyway?

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse Yes I am - read my comment below. If I climbed up some stairs in a house in Dallas, Texas could I say the stairs were over a mile high, since Dallas is 1 mile above sea level? No, only a dikhed would try to say that.

  • I partially went up on a cable car

  • Still, I like your video, it's really well made and very interesting. You did well to climb to the top.

  • @NickOLarse999 'Research' involves more than checking on Wikipedia. The height of a volcano can be measured from 1) the centre of the Earth 2) it's base 3) sea level. Height above sea level is the most commonly used, which puts Teide at 3718 metres, way down the list. Now try googling 'top 10 tallest volcanoes' and see what you get.
