Anime with Illustrator - Coloring the cels

Program: Adobe Illustrator CS3

Coloring the cels in animation is one of my favorite parts of the job. Nowdays anime is usually inked with vectors and after that, animators color the digital cels with desired colors. Job must be done pretty quickly, because there are about 3000 pictures in an average episode.

Yes, she is Flandre Scarlet from Touhou (game) series and no, I didn't forget her wings, they are on another layer. The drawing itself is pretty bad IMO, but the cut lasts only 15 frames (roughly 1 second), so it's not the end of the world.

when you say "cels", you mean to make a draw separately without stroke in live paint, or not?

The annual salary of your average poorly paid Japanese animator varies somewhere around 1 million yen. Veterans usually twice as much. Many animators have to quit because they simply can't afford to live with such low salaries.

@Nurgle777 I think he means when colouring cels your using fill tool, but to fill certain area's you need to have grouped the stroke for live paint? if your not using live paint option how are you filling the cels? D= i really want to know this too but no dice xO

Thats amazing, you have really inspired me to jump into this (as a hobby). Although something like this I think would take me hours to complete.

@Nurgle777 I can actually animate pretty good for my age and im only 13.

The movements turn out smooth... Most of my animations are better than most of the stuff I see on tv... its even better than some anime I watch...

What tops it off is it doesnt cause me any stress. The only thing is im too lazy to draw cells. So I draw blank but humanoid body figures and move them.
