Mitte, a member of the community at large, asked whether or not there is really a need for dual-monitors on the average computer setup. While having two monitors can certainly be helpful in an environment where you need to have instant access to multiple windows that don't fit on a single screen, there really aren't too many cases where a typical user needs to have more than a single screen running.
On most major operating systems, desktop management applications can create virtual desktops that you can readily switch between. These virtual desktop spaces simulate the same basic environment multiple screens would give you, without the need of filling your desk space with large screens.
Do you use dual monitors?

I found that a couple of 1080p screens are fine. I would like a higher res monitor, but I'm fine for now.

i have an 18 and 24 inch monitor. wanted one to keep videos, music players, and other misc programs off to the side. in retrospect, i shouldve gotten both monitors the same size

A second 20" would be perfect for me, I run Windows 7 and a VM of Linux simultaneously, and It would be nice the have both fullscreen... the only thing stopping me is desk space...
