So, you have heard the EAS (Emergency Alert System) on TV, or your radio when there was a thunderstorm. But on computer speakers, what the hell. I wasn't playing any sound, I was only talking on Skype, and I was typing stuff on my computer and suddenly I heard this. By the way, those speakers are brand new.

Cause: I live near a radio tower and my computer speakers are somehow picking up radio signals from the tower (that's why you sometimes hear the radio on your speakers). There was a thunderstorm outside, and the National Weather Service played the EAS twice on the radio. Since my speakers picked up a radio signal (I do not know which frequency) I was able to hear the EAS.

  • i wish there was a way that, if the eas is activated, it alerted you on your computer

  • There are also videos of EAS alerts on YouTube...

  • i get this on my pc speakers.....

apart form it changes like every night

some nights its german, some its english, some itsl iek indian or something, and some its definitly chinese

    crazy huh

  • @ELTIGREROCKS10NEW This was a case of the speakers picking up radio interference, not a normal internet radio stream.

  • I once heard a late night talk show from a radio station while trying to hook up a home theater system on my TV, which was brand new at the time when I was ten years old. It wasn't a case of the speakers picking up audio from the audio output of the TV, or a MTS subcarrier, but a case of RF interference.

  • @escalatorgeek881 WHAT THE HELL?! i dont like EAS same header tones. -_-

  • i once got this mexican radio station and i live in canada :P i was like wtf :P

  • People can hear the EAS on computer normally. There is live streaming weather radio on the internet.
