heparin recall / death of my grandmother

my grandmother fell and broke her hip on the 14 of april and was in the hospital 3 days and died..... she was administered heparin, a type of blood thinner than is used to prevent blood clots. we think this killed her.... there is an ongoing class action lawsuit going on and i contacted a lawyer last night...

I think this is what killed my Mother last April 8th 2007. She was in the hospital after having a very mild stroke. The doctors gave her Heparin to make sure there were no clots left. She immediately went into a coma and died a couple hours later. I feel in my gut that the Heparin killed her, she was fine in the hospital and was going to be going home that day!! She was jokeing and talking to everyone, til the heparin.

call a lawyer and talk to them, as long as the hospital has the medical records, they can still do a case, sorry about your mom

It's unfortunate, but many times the fall is a result of an underlying medical condition. Many elderly individuals do not fully recover from such trauma. They lack the resources to rebuild tissue, especially bone.

The symptoms you describe are more in line with a PE which is treated with blood thinners. Also, very common after a long bone injury. Hospitals don't usually kill people. They really try to help. If heparin was in fact contaminated, the culprit will be the manufacturer. Good luck

My father died on April 29,2009 & had a heparin flush.

FDA just seized 11 lots of contaminated heparin....god dammit, and that Chinese health official Jin Shaohong deserves whatever is coming to him.
