Mulder the Underwater Diving Dog

My yellow lab loves swimming, and loves going underwater. Sometimes he just likes to see what he can find and comes up with a rock, other times it's a bright rubber dog toy. I think he can hold his breath longer than I can!

He was going for the rocks. I do sometimes throw a ball in there that sinks, but sometimes on his own he just goes out in the lake and searches for rocks. He brings up really big ones somtimes too. I can't believe he can surface while holding a huge one in just his mouth!

Just a couple of minutes ago I read an article stating that dogs can smell underwater. Pulling the scent through a couple of holes in the roof of their mouth for the Jacobs organ. Couldn't find any credible pages though. Maybe he is just tasting the rocks, who knows.

Wow! Very talented dog! I wish my Yellow Lab would go underwater. In water all he does is stay above water. That's pretty cool what your dog did! =)
