those are the stories I've heard from that place. I haven't been there is a few years now to do any video taping but from what I hear racing is pretty much down all over the state in most all classes. Bracket racing is more popular...you don't have to spend as much to go super fast and still have the chance to win.
It's just I can remember as a kid going there every weekend and it was packed. Now it's slim to see a 9 second car there. My dad had a front engine dragster, it ran mid 9's with drum brakes on the rear only. Parachute of course. I can even remember when Tyler Crockett brought his top alcohol dragster there and even the little red wagon made a few passes in the 10's on the rear wheels. They had exhibition passes in jet cars too. Just think maybe them times have passed for ubly.
I used to think that too and so did some of the racers at this track but after they had several events there that were 1/8 instead of 1/4 mile more and more of the racers spoke much more positively about running a shorter distance. They said they used less gas and it wasn't as hard on their parts..i.e. they broke less stuff. Some racers made adjustments for the shorter distance and were more successful. Everyone knew going in it was 1/8 mile so they can decide whether they wanted to run or not.

What a waste of a 1/4 mile track! To only race to half track is like racing a child and saying I beat you to here.
