Yo the Firestone incident was so shady. IMO, the problem was the Explorer not the tire. How does a company immediately come out with a redesigned Explorer no more than a year after the incident? Not to mention the same tires were used in the Grand Cherokee and there were no problems involving the GC. Nice cover-up Ford. Oldest trick in the book. Bring out the replacement and blame it on your partner.

do people not know how to check the inflation of their tires? and why was toyota so heavily criticized for their recall when it didn't hurt/kill anywhere near as many people that ford and firestone did....

Ford always has been shady, including stealing other peoples designs and passing them off as their own I.E. the wiper delay system invented by Bob Kearns. Claiming to be the first to invent self adjusting brakes except Studebaker had this first. Just another classic case of greed.
