Rolling Wheels - driving dump trucks in the SuperPit, Kalgoorlie

I used to drive a huge dump truck in an opencut gold mine here in Australia, and wanted to capture what this was like.

Its a brilliant job, very well paid, and most of the day you are sat listening to your music in an air-conditioned cab!

I filmed a couple of complete runs down into the pit, and have included them at the end of the video, speeded up to 25 times actual speed - looks good.

I'm heading out there in May...I have my HR lic and I drive buses at the moment in Melbourne...But I'm willing to move to Kalgoorlie... I'm going to walk in the office and say I want a job as a dumb truck driver and willing to do what ever it takes....Any advice will be great....Oh and why did you leave for?

I watched this about 2 months ago now watching it again 2 weeks into being a dump tuck trainee @ the superpit makes much more sense now :O) eg.. fuel farm 4:48 amazing footage once again !!!!

should i first look at getting say a cert as a boilermaker or???

@legalize000 most places will ask for either HR licence, dump trick training course, or both. If you know someone who has a similar job to the one you want your more likely going to get it. and they will possibly train you too. its more about who you know than what you know when it comes to getting this kind of job.
