I watched the video of Shirley Shirrod and the NAACP, and I laughed when the crowd laughed, and I'm white. The reason I thought it was funny is because having worked in the service industry, I've also been in the position to decide how much help to give someone. When they are trying to act superior to you, it definitely doesn't encourage you to go above and beyond. In fact, Shirley eventually did go above and beyond for this guy.
