hi, i was in a motorcyle accident and had to have my c1 & c2 fused. I'm out of the halo, but still in the brace. I just wanted to ask from someone else that had the c1 & c2 fused if they were able to get full mobility back in the neck.

@richwross Hey - fortunately I didn't have my spine fused.  However, if I were to break my neck again and I could avoid the halo, I think I would actually go that route! Despite not having a fusion, I have lost some mobility turning my head to the left, and get tension headaches a lot from stiffness that comes and goes. I suggest massage and keeping as active as possible!

I have a question for you - before they took the halo off did they do a CT scan or MRI?

@nessachesters nope. just x-rays. And they will do another x-ray a few weeks after the removal to determine if anything moved/spread. hopefully that won't be the case! if you have any other questions, seriously don't hesitate to ask.

@elfenwick I have scoliosis really bad and have had 4 surgeries now. I have to have a 5th soon and because nothing seems to be working ... the surgeon wants to put me in this brace. He says there wont be any scars after. Is he lying to me? I see you had scars in the video. He also said the holes drilled would be under my hair only. But yours were also on your forehead!! Did those scars go away? Did it hurt when you lay down or pull. Did it hurt when they took the screws out??

@LoveMokes Hey - yeah, I have some scars from the halo. Usually people don't notice them unless I point them out. They really aren't the noticeable. It really depends on where they are going to put the screws in I guess. You can't see, but you can feel the scars on the backside of my head, but they are within my hairline.

broke my neck on july 13th 2010 on a trampoline accident. Wore a minerva brace for 3 months. couldn't do sports until april 2011. Now i'm back to everything i did before even doing flips on the trampoline.

@nessachesters -- hang in there! sounds like you're in good spirits. you'll have to redo your vacation when all is said and done! I am still going to try to redo my road trip.  I think it will provide some closure in the long run. Hope you're doing well!

I am so happy to watch this. Sometimes things just feel a little hopeless. I am too in a halo right now. I fractured my C1 vertebrae while on vacation with my family in orlando florida... A pool accident. This allows me to see what happens after this is off :) 6 weeks down - 6 to go :)
