The NJ State Health Benefit Plan Commission voted to get a waiver AGAINST the Federal Wellstone-Domenici Mental Health Parity Act. This Act basically states that mental health and mental illness needs to be treated by insurance plans on the same basis as physical health and illness and not discriminated against, therefore preventing plans from limitations on ment al health visits that didn't apply to the treatment of physical ailments. This exemption discriminates
It is all about money. Magellan Behavioral Health has hurt more people than they have helped. Shame on the board for granting the waiver.

"Embarrassing?" It's nothing less than "OBSCENE" for the State of NJ to dump those suffering from the effects of emotional and psychiatric distress into the trash heap, in an effort at attempting to "balance" their books. Instead, why don't they get rid of the slovenly governmental excess in counties, such as UNION, where waste and fraud are a daily occurrence. All residents of NJ are now forwarned. NO ONE is protected from these sociopathic vultures!!!

This commission sided with insurance companies that sought a waiver to avoid complying with Federal Law (the Parity Act). The waiver that was granted by the commission allows insurance companies to limit benefits for state workers seeking therapy for mental health problems. Not one of the more than 25 people that took time off from work to protest this action was allowed to speak -- except the man who expressed his anger during the clip.
