I can understand why people feel The National's music is 'sad'...but sitting under a blue sky, listening to their songs on shuffle, their music makes me feel ridiculously hopeful and optimistic for the future. I can't explain why...but there's something in the songs that just make me think 'oh, yeah, actually, I get down on myself for no reason and life is pretty sweet.'
