A metal washer is suspended by thin electrical wire above an exposed speaker so that it just touches the cone. A low frequency sine wave is sent to the speaker which causes the washer to chaotically ricochet around the cone. This creates a random percussive rhythm.

Exposed wires are placed around the speaker in various locations. These wires can be configured into various circuits that direct two different audio streams to one or both of the secondary speakers. As the washer, which is connected to ground, ricochets around the cone it completes these various circuits. A key is also dangled in the cone for further percussive effect.

The instrument is in a state of alligator-clip disarray at the moment, but the plan is to build it into a self contained case (complete with amplification) like the cymatic visualizer.
