During a recent concert appearance in Tama, Iowa, grassroots American Icon Willie Nelson took time out from his schedule to video tape several public service announcements (PSAs), which are being produced by Operation Firing For Effect (OFFE).
Willie Nelson speaks on the future of veterans healthcare, and ask the general public to take an active interest in the state of veterans affairs.
Nelson, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is national spokesperson for OFFE as well as a strong supporter of full mandatory funding for veterans healthcare and services.

Thank you so much for standing up for the disabled veterans in this country Willie. If people only realized how the disabled veteran is being treated in this country and the promises broken there would be a revolt. How many soldiers, airmen and sailors know that if they are wounded or hurt and they're divorced , their exspouse can walk away with 1/2 of their disability compensation. Judges are ignoring federal law 5301 that prohibits this. Where's the justice.

Interesting how Willie always seems to be on the side of the little guy. If you remember when this Iraq War started there was not a lot of discent or discussion. The President requested and most of us stood by our man. Now to care for the people who paid a very personal and dire price there seems to be more dickering about that than in the beginning. We sent these people into harms way for The United States of America. We the people must now stand by our men & women contacting our Congressmen.

Thanks Willie for help in raising Public awareness about what continues to be a systemic problem that has existed since our Revolutionary Days. A significant first step would be to separate the VA Healthcare System Budget from the control of the Department of Defense where it has to compete for every dollar. Instead, place it in the same budget that funds Healthcare for Members of Congress and all the other Federal Employees.

The sacrifices that have been made by our troops should not be forgotten, visit a V A or State Veterans nursing home. Just give theese men and women a HEART-FELT "THANK YOU" than call your congressman and senator to show your support. Commander DAV Chapter 88 Aston, Pa.

It is past time for Congress to step into the 21st Century, if they wants to continue to get 1% of this country's citizens to volunteer to serve, then stop stabbing their veterans in the back! It would be wise to recall the words of our Founding Father George Washington, "The willingness with which our young people are to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by our nation."

Veterans, whether you use the VA or not, call your elected officials and tell them to keep the promise made to Veterans. Look at the world today, if we want our young men and women to be willing to serve our nation, we need to stand up for them and make VA funding mandatory and stop letting our politicians nickle and dime our Veterans to death. If VA healthcare is so great, why not have our elected officials use the VA for their family instead of having the tax payers buy private insurance?
