The second of two 'specials' in the series: this deals with my memories as a cinema projectionist which began over 60 years ago. Briefly it deals in words, music and historic pictures, with the Savoy Cinema, Northampton right through to its present role as the Jesus Centre. Along the way the music is provided by Harold Nash, the last remaining full time organist at the Savoy, and features his one and only complete BBC Broadcast.

  • Best episode yet - loved the autobiographical and technical details as well.

  • I guess because it's a given you'd like doing them maybe- that was the joke, get it?

I guess I'm more nostalgic for B& W movies than anything else on a screen, but I'd rather see Bugs Bunny than listen to Whitney Huston sing over credits at the end of a film. Actually I'd rather listen to a Wurlitzer!

  • @paulj0557 Why wouldn't cartoons count? I used to love showing Disney re-issues as they continued into the mid 1990s which meant you could really still "put on a show" and synchronise tabs and stage lighting to the Disney-esqu "The End" type endings that films of the day had long since aborted and replaced with five minutes of closing credits. To the end, I loved playing One Hundred And One Dalmatians because the end pan-a-way looked lovely with a bank of red footlights and the tabs closing!

  • Wonderful! So what was your favorite film you projected? Cartoons don't count:-)
