Here is a cool clip of pointing dogs in action. My dogs are trained just like this and it takes a lot of time and patience to get this kind of reliability. But its all worth it in the end, granted my GSP was purchased as a "started" dog but I "finished" him. My Braque has been trained by myself with the help of the breeder. It takes A LOT of time but its so worth it when hunting season comes!

  • Good work of the dogs. Pitty the gun was a bit triggerhappy to shoot the pheasant in it's behind at close range. I would not like to eat that bird.

  • This is from the video "Gun Dog" !

  • lol i would have punted that bird so i wouldn't even have to waste a shot

  • this is hilarious. my wirehair just followed the whoa and release whistle commands on the audio track for this video. when he heard the gunshot he ran to the front door and had a look up and down the street.

  • Oh yeah... training dogs to do this isn't easy. I can remember my father training our old dog. She is now going on 13 and is happily retired, ok... not so much happily because she gets mad whenever he gets out the gun and she's not allowed to go. So then she pouts around the house and when he comes back, she ignores him for about an hour. hahaha
