I was raised different, I was more scared of my mom then the cops! My mom didn't hit me or abuse me in anyway but she was one tough cookie she was also a single mom but I feared her more then anything else in my youth and that is the way it should be. My mom was open minded and understanding but she NEVER crossed that line to being my friend she is and always will be my mom, I think parents need to stop trying to be the good guy so much and do there job, which is to be a parent.
By calling the police, the parent IS regaining control over the situation - not losing it! If parents teach their children where to go for help when they need it and how to reach out for help, then kids will be equipped to ask for help when they need it also.
I Could NOT agree more with what the professional is saying.....yes, kids what to see that you have control, but kids also need to understand consequences for actions, and they need to know that if they act a certain way you WILL take the necessary actions to protect them and yourself! Parents should NEVER be expected to have all the answers and its important for kids to realise that parents are allowed to access external resources - it teaches them to do the same.

I think they deserve to be arrested if they behave that way in their parents home. They behave so badly these days.
