On July 17th, 2009, the St. Croix Regional Medical Center was celebrating its 90th Anniversary by dedicating a Flag Pole in honor of Dr. J.A. "Jake" Riegel in the Emergency Room Parking lot. Dozens of guests were waiting for the ceremony to begin when a Life Link Flight approached for an Emergency Patient transfer to the Twin Cites Regional Medical Center.
The ceremony was briefly interrupted by the noise of the helicopter, but witnessing the event during the celebration was fitting and proper as it represents the purpose of why the St. Croix Regional Medical Center exists...to save lives.
It was quite a site to behold and everyone was in awe of the speed and convenience of the roof top heli-pad that was recently activated with the new hospital remodel.
In 1919, a medical clinic and hospital were founded by Dr. J.A. "Jake" Riegel and located in a family home in St. Croix Falls known as the Baker House. By mid-century, however, a growing area population, state and federal government regulations, and changes in medicine made it clear that a modern hospital building was needed in the community. ~ http://www.scrmc.org/about.html

Yeah LIfe Links can afford a fleet of Helicopters after they charge $2700 for a three- quarters mile ride in their ambulances.
