Louis Theroux travels to Johannesburg, where the residents find themselves increasingly besieged by crime. Despairing of the capability of the police and the courts to protect them, many have turned to an industry of private security, offering protection for a price. Are the sometimes brutal methods of these private police really a solution or just another part of the problem?

I grew up in Jo'burg. I used to go to technicon (college) quite close to where this mess was filmed. I used to carry a box cutter with me wherever I went just in case someone tried to cause shite with me. Fortunately I never had to use it, but I would have if I had to.
I had a guy place a gun to my forehead and cock the trigger. I was very close to getting shot in the head. I talked my way out of it.
