More popular helicopter = more sub-standard pilots flying them.

WHAT IN THE EVER-LOVIN WORLD CAUSED THIS HORRIFIC CRASH OF THE ROBISON HELICOPTER? LOOK HOW LITTLE IS LEFT OF THIS BIRD. IT'S BUSTED UP ALL TO HECK. WHAT HAPPENED?

@yumyumsashimi so what youre saying is that if the brakes on your toyota fail its your fualt for dying

KAMAKAZI PRACTICE OF COURSE
-
R22 is Yabai! :)

@yumyumsashimi When helicopters have a mechanical failure they don't pull over to the curb kid.

@JetDriver1111 I'm only 16 and I've been training to fly the R22 for a few years now. I agree with you, they are wonderful machines =D. As long as you don't cut corners on the safety checks and learn how to do a correct Auto-rotation you should always manage to stay alive in one.

@cpelton85 Of course. Slip of the fingers. Loads of people buy 44s so I've no doubt it's a terriffic machine to both operate and fly. By the same token, a Ford Mondeo is a belter of a car with handling that belies its looks, a good standard of fit and finish and decent build quality. I still wouldn't take one in a raffle, though.

Your own collective? Pretty sure the 44 I fly has 2 collectives. You are thinking of the T cyclic - A little weird at first but very comfortable and easy once you get used to it. Don't knock the 44 till you try it - Acquisition cost, fuel cost and maintenance costs are all much cheaper than a 206. It also cruises faster.

@nalanostrebor - everything you say is true, but God help me I still drive hours out of my way to train on a 269. It feels less of a toy somehow - 3 blades, my own collective and not such a cheapo look or feel off it (not that I know much to be fair). As for the R44? With Avgas almost 5x the price of jet A1 where I am, I don't get why anyone would buy a new one over a used turbine. Particularly when they look so passionless - there isn't an exciting angle on it.

@yumyumsashimi "you are still and ignorant fool". the correct word in that sentence should have been an not and. What exactly are you trying to say? All you have done is call me names and act like a child. You have at no point given any information or comment that supports the fact that you are right and I'm wrong. What, is the name calling and saying your right the proof? It's amusing that you accuse me of being a know it all. I hope you have a nice wonderful day.
Goes to show how ignorant people are blaming the helicopter for crashing. HelloooOO theirs a man flying it.. The same people would put blame on a car crashing and not the driver. Clueless ignorant fools.

It is just what to say. A human being has the cause of this accident.
The body is not the cause.

I fly the R-22's..they fly well but have their own quirks...but in the hands of a well trained pilot they are wonderful machines...sensitive as hell for a student pilot though...but a good pilot will love it...

As for this accident, a body did not have a problem, and that a pilot had a problem was clarified by the investigation.

Yeah the reason there's more Robinson accidents than any other is because the R22 is primarily used as a training helicopter, so you have a lot of low time pilots flying them. Robinson never intended the R22 to be used as a trainer, but many schools adopted it because of it's low cost to operate and reliability. If say a Bell 206 suddenly became the training standard, you'd probably see more accidents in that...

I think that the accident is not avoided if I do wrong how to use with all models.
