This was exactly what I was looking for. First tip did the trick. Most videos have so much BS at the beginning, and you have to wait to get to the actual instruction. Nice work.

When I double click on the layer (as in 0:34) , the only box i get is a New Layer box. In addition when I click on Layer Menu Item, many other properties including Layer Style is disabled, any
idea why? I am using CS 5.1 Photoshop Extended.

@himalay7 Sounds like you're working on the background layer which is locked. Go to LAYER menu, choose NEW > LAYER FROM BACKGROUND, hit OK and you should be good to go.
