Day of Our Goodbyes

I remember the moments we shared
the laughters the joys and even the scares
i reminisce on notebooks and pens
treasuring memories with you as my friends

and now we see a morning that fades
as time grows older with widening shades
holding each other as it turns gray
uniting in spirit with the courage to say

we embrace our destiny
shelter each other's misery
we rise and fall
yet through it all
we feel we're stronger now
amidst the cries and broken smiles
we've fought to stay this true
now here we are
on this special day

i walk in the sand and begin to see shadows of familiar markings of different hands
i see a crossroad that envisions a way that lead me to you on this very same day

giving thanks to
the school we knew
for teaching life's lessons and values
throughout the years
we've come and gone
never forgetting where we belong
