Bolton manager Owen Coyle is hoping goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will be fit for the weekend's crucial clash with Wigan.
Wanderers are bottom of the Barclays Premier League after a run of six successive defeats but their near-neighbours are just two points and two places above them.
Jaaskelainen sat out the 5-1 defeat to Chelsea with a thigh problem, only the second time in over three years he had missed a league match, as young stand-in Adam Bogdan had a game to forget.
However, the Bolton boss hopes the experienced 36-year-old Finn will be able to return for the visit of the Latics.
"Jussi had picked up the thigh strain and being the man he is, was willing to play through it against Chelsea," Coyle told The Bolton News. "We didn't feel we could take the risk that the injury wouldn't get worse as a result, so he sat that one out.
"He'll come back in with the other lads this week and we'll have a look at how he is doing."
