Two days later on May 19th the film had its official premier in New York City...

The song "Last Dance" by Donna Summer won an Academy Award for 'Best Original Song'...

Sadly, exactly 34 years later on May 17th, 2012 Donna Summer passed away at the age of 63...

Terri Nunn co-stars with Donna Summer in the unfairly maligned "Thank God It's Friday", a movie that shows the sheer joy in the disco era. The songs are SO upbeat! I'm happy the music is regaining appreciation. Actually, I think that deep down people still liked it. Just watch how they reacted to some of the music when it popped up occasionally, especially Village People. Donna Summer went far beyond disco though, just an amazing voice from a beautiful lady who always was an excellent performer.
