Step outside the Ahad's Sphere, and sunshine no longer rules your life. Intrigued? The Ahad's Sphere is a phenomenon in science to do with the luminous flux of our parent star as it weakens going out into space in all directions. The point in space where the Sun gets overpowered by the light of the surrounding cosmos is known as the Ahad radius. It was first postulated by UK astronomer and SF writer Abdul Ahad (b. 1968 - ) in July 2004, and subsequently featured in his epic sci-fi/horror novel First Ark to Alpha Centauri.
Crossing the Ahad radius is professed by some to have significance in areas of philosophy and metaphysics. Ahad wrote: "In the far distant future, when we are ready to embark on interstellar voyages out towards the stars, the edge of this sphere will mark an important psychological boundary for travellers from Earth. Imagine that a species which was born and evolved throughout its entire history under the powerful influence and majestic light provision from its parent star.... is suddenly about to make that supreme source of all light and heat the secondary source of *total* illumination...". "And how many devoutly followed religions and ideologies both in the past history of our planet and in many corners of well known modern religions today are still adamant on some form of direct or indirect "Sun worship" based on a fundamental belief that the Sun is the most supreme source of light in the entire universe and the giver and sustainer of all life? And what would those religions be worth when one of their worshippers crosses this Ahad radius where the Sun gradually becomes the secondary source of illumination going beyond a trillion (10^12) miles or 11,500 AUs out from Earth in all directions? At such a distance, a Sun wosrshipper's core pillar of faith would become invalidated because the Sun will no longer be the most supreme source of light to his/her local existence."

Well the 'Ahad Radius' seems like a cool new invention to me and it's good that you've kept it in your film as well. To know that throughout all of human history the sun seemed like a 'God' to our ancestors (egyptian Ra, Roman Apollo god of light and the sun; truth and prophecy; etc). Well what should happen (or could happen) to this colony of the first humans going beyond this 'God's' influence of LIGHT? Intriguing story is your First Ark.
