I completely agree with the overall sentiment of this video. Jerry Lewis sucks. But I'm not sure why you say we should support the MDA at the end?

Because MD is a horrid disease, and while it is great to be pro disability culture, i'm pro "guys with duchene's should die in their 20's" and they actually do help a significant portion of folks with disabilities out.

Muscular dystrophy is a terrible disease. The Jerry Lewis Telethon is a terrible way to portry people with muscular dystrophy. Critical is not only the money to provide better health care, but also respect, the vote, personal care services, and jobs. When is MDA going to learn that people with disabilities are not their disease, but rather contributing members to our society? Respect! Respect! Respect!

You idiots are shooting yourself in the foot. You should be grateful that Jerry Lewis and the MDA are going to whatever length it takes to raise money for research to put an end to neuromuscular disease. Stop your ridiculous whining about the means and focus on the end result, which is the end of suffering, independent living and no longer having a functioning mind trapped in an unresponsive body.

I do not see any backlash against breast cancer victims using pity to raise research funds.

I have twins with SMA that have been in a wheelchairs since they were six, they are now almost 20 and the MDA has been there for us every step of the way!! Nobody could ever make my sons feel anything they don't want to feel!

So stop pittying your self, cause that's what this is all about, all of you who just whine and spent your lives bitching, instead for doing something positive!

My sons are both in there second year of college, have a BLAST!!

I have seen people on the telethon with muscular dystrophy. I found that I was informed about something I didn't know much about. I didn't "pity" anyone. I gave money mostly because I wanted a kid in a wheelchair to go to camp or for someone to get some assistance or for more research to be done to help the world. What's the big deal?
