Solyndra's uncoventional solar modules are cylindrical, almost like a fluorescent light that generates energy. Here, they provide a brief tour of their first factory, and one of the first CIGS thin-film factories in the world, which is housed in a random office park south of Oakland.

@SelectHawk I never condoned this rediculous war. It, like the green energy initiative, was used to pay back political friends and cronies.

@supressorgrid At least my fellow liberals are trying to solve a problem, rather than lying to the entire country about it not existing. And how about Iraq? We waste half a billion. You waste 4+ trillion. I believe that puts you squarely in the lead.

Shame. Technology looked promising. Their production facilities looked very high tech too. But Solyndra's political lobbying and Obama's willingness to ignore rules to tout his green credentials has resulted in one dead company and possibly a one-term president.
Even if Obama does not go (quite likely), scandals like this ruin the reputation of government aid in this critical energy research area. Investing in energy research directly reduces likelihood of wars and ultimately military spending.
