I love how all the comments saying that Benning was at fault have been negatively marked. As the commentators said; Newman was still straightening up from avoiding Benning, which meant he wasn't as stable as the others. He was hit in the rear, on a straight, while turning. If you guys were NASCAR fans you'd know that is not good news. Heck, I'm from Australia and even I know that. Seriously, guys.

well what do u except if your out of the draft during green flag pit stops you would be 10 mph off the pace! but i do agree with you he should have got to the apron but they ran up on so fast like they said i guess.

@ 1:24 you can see Norm Benning move away from the faster cars but reutimann was there when ryan newman came down

How the hell can anyone blame Norm Benning for this crash when they had practically traveled halfway down the back stretch between the time Newman moved down to get around him and Reutimann ran him over? Reutimann had a good 2-3 seconds or so to let off and avoid hitting Newman. That's an eternity in NASCAR.

dont blame norm because he loves racing he needs sponsership and they came up on him fast that he had nuthin to do slow cars knew that one of them were gonna race in the 500!!!
