Directed by the inimitable Friz Freleng in 1929. This was a sound cartoon, but I'm not aware of any surviving sound prints (though I'd love to be surprised). The music you're presently hearing on the "soundtrack" was chosen by Pietro Shakarian.

Hey, viewers -- slight problem uploading this, in the the picture element moves a bit too slow, and the sound cuts out about half a minute before the end.

Some browsers seem to stop playing the picture element when the sound ends. You'll need to manually nudge the cursor forward to get to the next scenes; the cartoon does *not* end with the rabbit and bear trudging down the road, arguing.

That was clever of Oswald to use his own shadow to replace the black in the fur after the dog aggressively stole it.

This probably the first cartoon ever in history to the eyes popping out gag. At 3:53, the bear hobo squeezes Oswald for refusing to steal the turkey or chicken for him and Oswald's eyes pop out while the bear is squeezing him.
