Evangelion 1.0
In theaters: July 17, 2009Copyright © 2009 Eleven Arts

There was no foreseeable warning before it happened — a catastrophe of unparalleled scale and magnitude overwhelmed the entire globe. This event, recorded in history as The Second Impact, caused half the population of the Earth to perish and devastated the world. All that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that is now being attacked by giant creatures that seek to destroy mankind. These creatures are called Angels. Fourteen year old Shinji Ikari is called to Tokyo-3 by his father who he hasnt seen in more than eight years. He is asked to come to the NERV headquarters to meet his father. His father reveals to him a gigantic humanoid weapons system that the special governmental agency has secretly developed to fight the Angels and then orders Shinji to pilot the giant artificial human Evangelion Unit One. With the fate of the world resting on his shoulders, how will the 14 year old boy Shinji fight? Wht is the truth behind The Human Instrumentality Project, an operation somehow related to the Second Impact? And who is the true enemy? The Angels, NERV, the mysterious SEELE, or the demons held within the hearts of the people involved? Gendō Ikari, a man who holds many answers to these questions, watches silently and attentively as his son fights a desperate battle

  • Watch 2.0 and stand in awe. I kind of dislike Misato's dub, she seems too sexy and somewhat dumb, while her real voice seems more serios and determined.

Ritsuko does say the word Evangelion gracefully. But the trailer itself seems too cliche.

  • Great story, great animation, great action. More please?

  • @imblue36752100 in my opnion this is one of the best things humans have ever created

watch it really attently, disconnect from everything & be patient because the story is so dense & deep but believe me its one amazing son of a bitch

  • @NocteusLucium i am getting both!!!! 0_0 :D :D

  • This is a pretty intense anime. Should I be scared or actually watch it?

  • @AnAmbientGrey 1.11 will amaze you but if you buy 2.22 for Christmas, that movie will leave you utterly stunned. The voice acting is just phenomenal throughout and the movie is so touching and crazily action-packed that it'll make your body tingle at every scene. The beauty of the animation's lighting and detail is just astonishing and the soundtrack is wonderful as well. I really hope you can get both movies cuz' you're going to be begging for more after 1.11.

  • @NocteusLucium I'm glad i'm getting 1.11 for xmas. I want to see this mindfuck of awesomeness that is evangelion but i find it hard to immerse myself in the older animes.

  • This is WAAAAAY better than the series. lol I mean, it's kind of scene by scene, but the movies add way more depth, a waaay better script, way better voice acting, way better animation, way better sound and music, and new characters and plot points. The fourth movie in the re-imagining is even supposed to be something completely new.

  • @WindyCornerTV I wasn't really expecting someone to be kind enough to answer my question, so thank you! lol :)

  • @guitarfanatic2010 Probably a bit late to answer. In Australia and NZ, there were three DVD releases. The first was Evangelion 1.0 published by Red Ant. This DVD is actually 1.01, but only contains the Japanese dub. Evangelion 1.01 published by Madman has the English and Japanese dub. Finally there was 1.11 published by Madman as well (also on Blu-Ray), is the definitive version with the most scenes. This release also contains both the English and Japanese dub.

  • @volbia12 I agree, it's quite cliché. I think for the remake they've toned down the existentialism and angst a lot, so it's still very deep, but just not depressingly so.
