Long story short, I've put a new solenoid in it. 2 rebuilt starters, and a NEW one that's in it right now. Basically, what it does is, when I put it in for the 1st time the starter sounds perfect and acts like its going to start. Then the starter starts grinding, and then after about 10 seconds of grinding it spins, it doesn't engage the ring gear. I've looked at the ring gear all the way around and it looked great, not a single missing tooth. I'm not sure what to do.....
that didnt sound to good ,The Flywheel is gone on that truck , hate to bring it to you :P.

sound like the teeth on that flywheel is gone,go underneath. take off the starter and look at the teeth ... if you cant see turn the motor by hand with a breaker bar or with a 1/2 inch ratchet ... and turn to see the rest of the teeth on that flywheel
! im sure thats the problem

I think you need a new flywheel. I think the teeth on the flywheel is gone on that part of the flywheel. Turn the engine by the bolt in the front or anyway you can and then try to start it if it turns over more than likely it is the flywheel or you could remove the starter again and look at the flywheel.

that sounded like it was a bad neg connection. Check the frame to starter or frame to ground. But I think you've already figured it out right? Shows it running in other videos. Good luck on your project. :-)

I similar problem. It was a crossed ground to the engine. When I'd go to start the starter wouldn't quite. haha I fixed that with no problem. But I completely rewired the harness and now I'm powder coating the fame. It'll take me about 6months to finish my project. GREAT looking truck!!! The 63body was and is my fav ford 4x4 body.
