Jackson sure makes all songs his own. Sounds like he could have written it himself.

Zevon. Browne, Jd souther they had this little atrtistic thing goin on,some of the eagles too--

Jackson does it fine but Warrens manner of singing it brings out the dark side of life the song is about. Jackson's voice can't really capture that darkness his voice is too refined. Warren captures that shadowy side in this song and many others.

i read a book on warren zevon, called i'll sleep when i'm dead, it's excellent, his ex wife wrote it, and there are paragraphs by all his friends, jb and the rest. there is a bit about warren playing bars in spain, and he got a letter from jackson, and it said too early to give up, so he came back to la and recorded his album. brilliant.

This is one of those great unrehearsed moments in music. A pure heart performance will always beat a Hollywood rehearsed POS

Jackson at his best! Great cover!!

@QueenBeatlesWings if you ever saw warren perform live, he often included little tributes to jackson in his lyrics. he would change the pina colada at trader vics line in "werewolves" to "i saw jackson browne walking slow down the avenue/you know his heart is perfect" and i once saw warren do "winter wonderland," probably just so he could do the line "in the meadow we could build a snowman/and pretend that he is jackson browne."

@zazeify Zevon and Browne wrote many songs together . I wouldn't doubt if he had a hand in it

I love how this seemed to be completely unplanned and he even makes a mistake towards the end. A really beautiful versino of a kick ass song.

You don't know Warren Zevon if you think this was anyone but Warren. Jackson Browne was instrumental in bringing WZ into the light, but it was all Zevon in genius and talent. Missing Warren tonight more than usual. We all would be better off to have a clue about everything or the vast majority thereof, like the man who wrote this and soooo many other incredible words. R.I.P. Warren. xoxo
YESSSS!!!! This is a great cover. I wonder though if it pains Mr. Browne to sing some of these songs sometimes.

Probably, this was about 1 year after Warrens passing.
