"I have met some highly intelligent believers, but history has no record to say that [s]he knew or understood the mind of god. Yet this is precisely the qualification which the godly must claim--so modestly and so humbly--to possess. It is time to withdraw our "respect" from such fantastic claims, all of them aimed at the exertion of power over other humans in the real and material world."

"To "choose" dogma and faith over doubt and experience is to throw out the ripening vintage and to reach greedily for the Kool-Aid. "

"Why do humans exist? A major part of the answer: because Pikaia Gracilens survived the Burgess decimation."

"What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence."

  • " ...that whole civilisation has just died out... eh.. whaddaya gonna do? "

    Funny.

" we won't appear to the chinese.. who can already read "

    gotta love Hitchens

  • This thing they call "God" is nothing more than a despot not dissimilar to a child who carves two paths in the sand for Ants to walk on. Those who don't comply are forced with a stick down the path that leads into a burning pool of oil. Whilst the others are ushered on to a life that continues on under the same bullshit conditions that this alleged "God" dictates. This is not a "God". This is an asshole.

  • RIP HITCHENS.

  • only one thumb down...

  • A sexy beast!

  • Hitch's thought process is bang on!! Outstanding...

  • Hitch is a beast.

  • God doesn't make sense. Luckily, "Truth" has nothing to do with "reasonableness." 'Truth' (ask Dr. Marina @hotforwords) has more to do with 'being tree-like.' (possibly one of those huge trees upon which one hangs stuff or -against which one props stuff up) Humans build new/interesting strongholds upon the cornerstones of Truth; they are regularly torn down, but the Truth remains (like an old, giant redwood stump.)

  • The truth will set you free.

Get well, Hitchens. You are a remarkable man.
