Tarka dahl is prepared in four stages: soaking, boiling, seasoning and tempering - Parpeet Basi explains all to John Torode. Print the recipe at http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/601813
@zeenatv the tarka should have more oil in fact lots more ,,but dahl can be a runny soup through to a paste stodge depending on region and preference ,,i eat this shit all the time infact i have just made some thats why i am looking at this vid and mine is the bollox
@tmonkey123 totally agree ,these sort of programmes are bullshit ,,,,if you want a real good quality dahl ,,get a pressure cooker ,,this dahl looks ok ,,but mine would blow it out of the water for taste
@saifeestar if you want to learn how to cook dishes, watching these TV shows is unfortunately a bad idea. They never show the genuine recipes (always their own spin of a dish), and the few times they do they never go through the process in detail. These shows are more for entertainment than real teaching, which is annoying.
they even didn't bother to tell about the quantity and which 3 daals were used in this recipe, I use Masoor ( Red Lentils 2/3 portion ) & Moung ( 1/3 portion) and it comes better then this.
I was under the impression you fried the tadka in smoking ghee in an iron ladle, then had to put it on top of the dhal in the pan. Put the lid on the pan for 2 mins to let smoke temper the dhal? I'm struggling to get a good recipe :(
this is wrong, thorkah is the base to which the thaal is added to, not a topping to the flipping thaal. fucking heel, talk about sabotage of a classis dish.
This must be the most modern distorted version of daal & tarka. OMG I could not believe my eyes...Thanks for the upload, there is always something to learn in life, no matter how bizarre ;))
This recipe is rubbish... Sorry but thee are far better ways to cook tarka dal!
