  • Sounds great!!! i love how Ubuntu is leading the way for music production. I am soooo glad I have never used ProFools. I only use Linux/Ardour. I friggin LOVE it!

  • @analyzingfunny ""i love how Ubuntu is leading the way for music production"" huh? hehehe!

Never heard about "Ardour" but if you like it, that's what counts....

I've been using Cubase for almost 20 years.. Steinberg D O T Net

  • just a little thing i've learned when working with kick drums. Compression is a good factor to help you get that thumping pushy kick feel(Depending what you're going for though) you can always add thump in an EQ, however make sure the frequency doesn't get in the way of anything else in your mix or that something else is masking your kick because it's most dominant in that frequency, Lastly when most try going for anything above 1.5k for that punchy beater sound. EQing after compression is key:D

  • @DJyorkei hehe you're telling me or just adding tips?? Everything you said its in the video hehe..

Too bad the video quality sucks..

  • Before this I was increasing the low shelf on EQ to add meat to kicks and its was clipping and still not sounding great. Gotta try different ways I guess! Never even thought about enhancing the mid-high area!

  • @RoryY0

Best way is to CUT the Low mid area around 300 to 400hz! with a nice countour cut. Removing that chaotic area reviels a nice tone on your Kick drum.. to help it cut thru a bunch of guitars and so on, a nice hi-mid boost helps.. your choise from 2.5k - 4k - 6k.. I've done 3k.. what ever works for you.

Im full aware that Every Kick is different, but if u cud cud u give me a basic EQ method or flat out with to cut boost whatever. Im bein pretty straight forward cus i do need help, Drums are difficult for Me.

  • Just saying it a different way haha:P

  • @girotube Thanks for helping me out there! It can be so frustrating trying to get your kick sounding nice. I'll definitely try this out next time I'm in the studio!!

  • @girotube How do you split your drums into separate parts like that? Did you convert the drum track to midi? If so how do I convert my audio drum track to midi?
