The Unchained Goddess 1958 warns about Climate Change

So you think Climate change is new? Sorry to disprove that idea, but people have been talking about our impact for over 50 years. Don't you wish they started back then, instead of waiting so long.

This exerpt is from the well known educational documentary "Unchained Goddess" produced by Frank Capra for Bell Labs for their television program "The Bell Telephone Hour." It was so well made, that it went on to live a continued life in middle school science classrooms across the nation for decades.

Nearly half a century before Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth," this film was made. But what does it reveal? That our scientists have known for over two generations about this danger, but our politicians and citizenry have chosen to ignore the dangerous implications of this fact until it really is too late to avoid the preventable consequences.

Maybe you should investigate other possible reasons, a volcano, sun out put, or maybe new technology?

we all know that the warming been going since the 18 hundreds remember we were in a cold period known as the little ice age in the 16 and 17 hundreds. then it started cooling as the co2 was still rising. this was between 40s and the 70s which started the global cooling media trend then it changed straight back to warming also most of the warming during the 20th century was in the first half. before the cooling. also explain why mars ice caps are melting and venues temperatures are rising. why?

Ah sorry but you are incorrect see my other two videos on climate change. One shows the steady rise in temp since 1910 and the other shows that in 1958 they were talking about global warming threat. The climate of Earth is not Mars or Venus so your mentioning them make little sense. Thanks for your time.

what those two planets have alot of sense . why is there such so powerful evidence that their temperatures are increasing when their atmosphere makeup is very different then ours. hmm is it strange or are the Martians driving SUVs on mars. also, so what if you have a few videos. science shows that it stopped rising in the 40s and did not rise tell 75. also note in 1924there were articles about cooling then in 1935 warming, then cooling in 75. guess where we are today..

Sorry but those two planets climate have nothing to do with ours, and you trying to link them is just ignorance. As to your insistance that you know it is cooling you have not actually bothered to look at the real science. since 1910 it has steadily warmed. Each year since has been warmer than 1910 so about 100 years of getting warmer. Your incorrect that the temp didn't rise from 40's to 75. You base all your info on half truths, and need to learn facts before speaking. Not wild stories.

Having been down there, I'd LIKE to see the drowned towers of Miami under 150 feet of water. The hurricane that swept thru New Orleans years ago not only brought devastation, but, according to some residents there, probably cleaned out a lot of the "problems" lurking in the french quarter as well-- this from them not me-- and I can vouch for that too. Maybe it's somebody's way of telling us that if we don't clean up our act, he'll do it for us...hmmm.

i know most of warming was during the first half of the century then the cooling. which stated a news frenzy about an new ice. also note we are warming from a cool period called the little ice age, also the graphs the ipcc predicted are not happening. one last thing explain why mar's ice cap are shrinking and venues Temperatures have been increasing. i think we don't have suvs their. nice try. my friend .

It is sad how people forget to look at the whole picture and all the facts, cherry picking to support their ideas.

It doesn't matter if you believe in it, the reality of Climate Change "Global Warming" is here and will only increase until we decide to change, or we are all dead. The earth will live on, it is a question of will humans be there to see it.

Nice try but you forgot the facts.

The current La Nina is now the strongest since 1999-2000. The lag between La Nina and the full global surface temperature response means that the cooling effect is expected to be a little greater in 2008 than it was during 2007.

Mean temperature is still expected to be significantly warmer than in 2000, when a similar strength La Nina pegged temperatures to 0.24 degree C above the 1961-90 average. Sharply renewed warming is likely once La Nina declines.
