Almost 300 friends, family and colleagues came out to the Knights of Columbus Centre in Trenton on Thursday, December 1st for a celebration of Lou Rinaldi's 8 years as MPP for Northumberland-Quinte West.
Speakers at the event included Bruce Davis, who acted as Master of Ceremonies and Padre Sid Horne from Royal Canadian Legion Br. 110 who gave the blessing before dinner. Former MPP's Hugh O'Neil and Ernie Parsons were on hand to escort Rinaldi and his wife Diane to the stage.
A number of current and former municipal and provincial politicians as well as representatives from the health, not-for-profit, business, labour and other sectors were on hand for the event.
Peter Delanty, former Mayor of Cobourg, Gil Brocanier, Mayor of Cobourg, Hector MacMillan, Mayor of Trent Hills, John Williams, Mayor of Quinte West, Joe Dixon, MPP for Ajax Pickering, Jeff Leal, MPP for Peterborough and Bill Thompson, Keystone House all spoke about their experiences with Lou and what he was able to do for their communities.
The final speaker was Lou's son Mark Rinaldi who said that since he and his wife Diane were now unemployed that they could re-apply to work at Brighton Speedway. Mark then presented them with their old uniforms.
