In the footsteps of Alexander the Great

In this award winning adventure Micheal Wood embarks on a 2000 mile journey in the foot steps of Alexander's triumphal march from Greece to India. Travelling with Lebanese traders, Iranian pilgrims and Afghan guerillas, by jeep, train, boat, camel and on foot, he interweaves the momentous events of the past with present day reality and brings us new insights into a man whose myth and acheivements still resonate down the centuries

"We saw things I can scarcely believe. We took shelter for the night with an Afghan warlord who had delivered pizzas in the United States, and were hauled off to jail more than once. It was one of the great experiences of my life" - Michael Wood

    ...what?

  • @yanar89 Hey Yanar89...to tell the truth, I don't know.

Most scholars suspect that theory, but no one is ever sure.

It could and couldn't be him. In my opinion, he is not.

The Quran describes Zulqarnain as being a pious person and a monotheist. In this documentary, Alexander claims to being the son of Ra. I highly doubt it.

  • @mbmprophecy4 is zulqarnain really alexander? I kinda doubt that...

  • Who would dislike these documentaries I wonder..hmmm

  • This is history! These stories are as such that I actually feel something. Western culture is so fucking eroded :(

  • @lockateard17 Oh OK!

lol...well it was a great documentary.

    Have a good day!

  • @mbmprophecy4 i havent watch this since 3 months ago so i dont remember the 2horned king part.

  • @lockateard17 Actually, if you listened carefully to this documentary, you would have noticed that many cultures across the world, starting from Macedonia to Afghanistan, named him the two-horned king. Dhu'l Qarnain is merely an Arabic translation meaning the same thing. If you've noticed the part about the Turkmans, in this documentary, they named him the two-horned king as well. They even used sign language denoting that very fact. Islam didn't steal anything.

  • @mbmprophecy4 so dhu'l qarnian is actually alexander the in the quran, that seems to me that they stole the legend of alexander renamed it in their book to pass it that some one of the islamic faith was capable of such greatness, everyone else knew him as alexander why would they name him different otherwise??

  • @lockateard17 There's more---basically, the mere mentioning of the two-horned king in he Quran was a privilege in itself. It usually didn't mention people unless they were of great significance. "He replied, ‘The power with which my Lord has endowed me about this is better, but you may help me with physical strength; I will set up between you and them a rampart."

    Hope that helps again.

    Thanks!
