why did they not bury the donkey?
-
Richard Harris's greatest role ever, IMO.

loved the book and the film
-
Poor donkey he gave it a donkey punch and killed it
-
its the love of the land. and dont think they killed an animal you idiot. i am very proud to be Irish.

One of the most violent Irish films ever made. It is laden with violence from the very opening scenes. The dead donkey, the sheer brutal nature of the labour carrying seaweed, the sea itself.........and it just gets more violent.

I've been to Leenane, where The Field, was filmed many, many times - it's every bit as beautiful and wild as the film suggests.
This film represents what is perhaps Richard Harris' finest performance (or one of them anyway). Like the Bull McCabe, it will live forever!

Harris's finest hour and his comeback. He deserved the oscar.
