This short tutorial (about 10 minutes) investigates methods that can be used to perform a spatial join. In ArcMap (part of ArcGIS Desktop) a spatial join allows a user to join or append the attributes of two layers based on the location of the features in the layers.
Using an example of "show shoveling", this tutorial show how we can join attributes from a polygon asset to a point asset. Both ArcMap and ArcToolbox are used. The goal is to show how to Create a new table join in which fields from one layer's attribute table are joined to a point layer's attribute table based on the locations of the features in the two assets.
This tutorial is hosted by Jere Folgert.
