On November 21, 1992, airline videographer Henry Tenby flew aboard LAP Air Paraguay's DC-8-63 from Santiago, Chile, over the snow-capped Andes, to Asuncion, Paraguay.

This thirty-six minute program takes the viewer along for the ride, enjoying take-off, in-flight, and landing from the very best seat in the house, just forward of the engines.

In addition to onboard footage, this program also presents exterior footage of noisy engine starts, push back, taxi, and take-off.

LAP's DC-8-63 came from Air Canada in the mid-1980s, which had earlier been upgraded with a wide-body interior.

This unique DC-8 DVD allows you to sit back, relax, and relive the glory days of stretch DC-8 flying at its best!

  • @rlt040976 I never flew aboard any DC-8, but watched them intently as a spotter back in the '80s. They remain interesting airplanes because they are simultaneously big and not-big planes: narrow-bodied, but with large wings and heavy control axes. For this reason, they behave in flight much more as large airplanes. The Stretch DC-8s in particular appear as very stable machines in flight, but definitely not agile. I remember a UPS pilot on TV saying that flying them "is like flying your house".

  • Airplane porn?

  • PEDAZO DE AVION

  • Last flights on DC-8 were on UAL and dont remember them being loud. However, the 707's owned by TWA were much louder at take off but once in the air they were fast and smooth... Not too bad landing in thunderstorms either as I remember...
