@NotTheMusicMan Just because it's not a pro DSLR doesn't mean you can't get pro quality images for it. The reason you pay more for a "pro" camera is easy access to all the manual controls. Even pros use cameras like these when they need something smaller and more light-weight while still getting the same results, because they know what they're doing.

@manateeak i do believe our space concerning what is considered semi pro and expert is small these days. d7000 is all we want. go to... freedslr . com remove spaces and try to get an opportunity to win a new Nikon D7000

Because dads are the only ones who take care of the serious stuff, right?
-
@Unstepped By family camera, he means it is usable by everyone.
Kids, for pictures they might want to take for example, of the pets.
Mum, for pictures with friends, and Dad for more serious pictures.

Reviews by 'Shiny Shiny' make me laugh. The presenters clearly have no experience with the product before their told to review it. It seems a case of "here's a camera, it does this, this and this, now review it...go!"

After reading all the reviews over the past few days I placed my order from Costco
Yesterday , Heck from all the great videos on YouTube I already know how to use it
Before I even get it ) Nice camera ! Very nice

@stupidstupidfish thank you! i was thinking the same thing.

The reason there's no top LCD like more expensive Nikon SLRs is because it's an entry-level, consumer (that's right, not pro) DSLR...

i have this camera for about 6 months now...and i am in love with this camera....its simply superb....its like a magical wand....easy to learn and hard to live without....i recommend it to all who are skeptical in buying this camera...
o_O. This DSLR is, like any camera, what the photographer makes of it. Calling it a "Family" camera is demeaning for this piece of kit. A "Family" camera is a point and shoot piece of junk. SLR's are for photography, not childs play. I love the D90 and this camera... but it is in no way a "family" camera, unless of course you plan to shoot in Auto mode like a philistine.
