English is her second language, but you wouldn't know it. Yuki won first place in the Hess Speech and Writing Competition. This is an example of how well students can perfect an English Presentation with practice.

  • STUPID for sure!!

  • Hey there, It's cool if you have an opinion about a speech. But remember that you're talking about a ten year old girl here! She's only learned English in a classroom a few times per week and has excelled. It's a little irresponsible to be so scathing of a child's efforts.

  • post a video of her passing the GEPT.

  • might be a little boring to watch.

  • look at that white douchfag in the audiences looking all impressed at his little marketing ploy regurgitating what is say on stage. half the chinese audiences look pale and bored at the event. hess.... what a mess and it's less than asswipe!!!

  • I agree with worldlybrit - way the top, nothing natural or charming at all.

  • very cute. i love it!

  • ni hao kai lan! ^^

    this is so cuteee :)

  • Not bitter. Just facing reality. Unless you've lived in Asia, you know sweet nothing about how English 'learning' happens here.

Don't try and be all moralistic about it, she's been drilled and drilled and drilled for that speech, it's marketing / PR bullshit.

I know what I'm talking about because I used to work for HESS. They're a bad company and they have a bad reputation with most foreigners who've worked for them.

Also dumbass, I was taking a shot at the company, not the child! Duh!

  • Are you bitter. She's a young girl doing a speech in front of a few 100 people, and she is confident, articulate and makes some good points. It sounds like it is based one her writing.

    Let me see...

"The person who wrote this probably spent hours deleting and retyping to find the most impressive way to bash a child. Hiding behind a computer rehearsing the pessimistic ways they can bring the man down seems like a person I wouldn't want to have any kind of "fluent conversation" with.

  • g0od.. your spontanueos

  • Don't be too impressed, they practice and practice and practice the same thing over and over and over and over, she's probably says that speech in her sleep now!! They go through intensive coaching for that marketing event! It's not showcasing their real ability.

You go and try and have any kind of fluent conversation with her, apart from HESS's pre-programmed responses I bet she wouldn't understand most of what you say.

  • well, you'd know better than me since you LIVE in asia. she is good though. i never tried looking away while she speaks before. it is harder to understand. i think her enthusiasm helps me to understand.
