Smashproof play 'Ordinary Life' and 'Too Much Pain' at the concert following the 10,000 strong hikoi (protest march) against the Auckland Super City plan on May 25th 2009.
The National-ACT government's Super City plan to merge of Auckland's local councils has caused much anger. Auckland's large geographic area means that very few people other than the very rich or celebrities will be able to afford to run viable election campaigns. Many people fear the Super City structure will make it easier for councillors to push through unpopular policies such as privatisation and cuts to public services, like libraries and swimming pools. Auckland Maori are especially angry that there will be no Maori seats included in the Super City.
Haha Len Brown won the mayoralty. Bet John Key and Rodney Hide are crying that John Banks didn't win.
